REP. HUBBARD QUALIFIES FOR RE-ELECTION TO ALABAMA HOUSE

Rep. Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn) has qualified with the Alabama Republican Party as a candidate for re-election as the State Representative for District 79. Hubbard, who serves as Chairman of the Alabama GOP as well as House Minority Leader, qualified on Tuesday, March 2.

"Serving as a Member of the Alabama Legislature has been an honor and a privilege," Hubbard said. "I have consistently worked for the betterment of District 79 as well as to restore honesty and integrity to government and to make those charged with your tax dollars accountable.

"We have made tremendous strides in Montgomery as Republicans under the leadership of Governor Riley, but we have much more to do. Our work has just begun to transform the status quo in Montgomery to a majority in both houses that put people above politics. That is a difficult task, but one worth fighting for, and I believe we can and will do it in 2010."

Hubbard will be seeing his fourth term in the Alabama House of Representatives. He was first elected in 1998 and re-elected in 2002 and 2006.

The 48-year-old Hubbard has served in a leadership role as Governor Riley’s Floor Leader in the House since 2002 and has also served has House Minority Leader, the highest-ranking Republican in the House, since 2004. He is also currently serving his second two-year term as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party.
